Microsoft Corporation, Principal Program Manager, Chairmans Office
From December 2006 until October 2008 I was one of three members of Bill Gates’ Technical Assistant team in the Chairman's Office at Microsoft supporting the overall overall Microsoft technical strategy. The specific responsibilities of this position are confidential. I remained in this position until the fall of 2008 when Bill refocused his energies from his day-to-day role at Microsoft to his global health and education work at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
November 2002 to December 2006
Microsoft Corporation, Group Program Manager, Visual Studio
From November 2002 until December 2006 I was the Group Program Manager for the Microsoft Visual Studio IDE and Visual Studio Industry Partner Program. During this time I participated in shipping Microsoft Visual Studio 2003, was responsible for shipping the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 IDE, formed the Microsoft Visual Studio SDK team, and worked on multiple undisclosed incubation projects.
May 1997 to November 2002
Microsoft Corporation, Lead Program Manager, Macintosh Business Unit
From May 1997 until November 2002 I was a Lead Program Manager and founding member of the Macintosh Business Unit. During this time I worked on countless products including Microsoft Office 98 for Macintosh, Microsoft Office Japanese Edition, Microsoft Office 2001 for Macintosh, Microsoft Office v. X for Mac OS X, Microsoft Messenger for Macintosh, and Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection for Macintosh. Responsibilities included; technical people and project management, architecture, and other facets of managing a successful software business.
October 1996 to May 1997
University of Iowa, Undergraduate Research Assistant
Undergraduate Research Assistant for the Chair of the Computer Science Department at the University of Iowa during my Freshman year. Responsibilities included general research support for faculty, hardware and software technical support , creating a solid web presence for the Computer Science department, and developing internal processes.
October 1995 to Present
Weber Ventures, Managing Director
Since October 1995 I have been the Managing Director of Weber Ventures, a software development and Venture Capital firm established to support the commercialization of my software applications. Weber Ventures has published multiple software titles including the Eddy award winning ExecutiveSync which was licensed by by You Software and rebraded You Software, and later aquired by Smith Micro, Professional BlackJack Tutor which was acquired by an undisclosed casino gaming company, and PBDuo Barrier Pro which was acquired by MSI Technologies. Today Weber Ventures reinvests royalties in public and private companies with an emphasis on early stage technology investments.



My Software
ExecutiveSync was the first dependable file synchronization program for Mac OS X that supported long file names, Unicode, synchronization with Microsoft Windows File Servers, and countless other features. ExecutiveSync was released as shareware and won 12 awards including a MacWorld Editors Choice Award. It was licensed by by You Software and rebraded You Software, then later aquired by Smith Micro. Font Insight is a font utility for Mac OS X that allows users to view character sets and encodings for fonts, as well as print font books and sample sheets. FontInsight was released as donationware with the proceeds benefiting the American Red Cross. More Information...

Kaboom was the first native implementation of Minesweeper for Mac OS X. Kaboom was released as freeware and has received over 1,000,000 downloads. More Information...

Professional BlackJack Tutor was a version of BlackJack for Mac OS 9 and Windows that taught BlackJack strategy and approaches to card counting. Professional BlackJack Tutor was released as shareware and later acquired.

PBDuo Barrier Pro is an extension for Mac OS 7.5, 7.6, 8.0 and 8.1 that secured a PowerBook by requiring a password on launch. PBDuo Barrier Pro was released as shareware and later acquired.
